CCIIR initiated new project to support affirmative action policy in higher educational admission system of Georgia. The project “60 credit Georgian language module for non-Georgian students” is funded by “Open Society- Georgia Foundation”. The project aims at supporting higher educational institutions of Georgia in developing Georgian, as a second language, module for non-Georgian students, who will become the students through affirmative action.
The affirmative action policy in admission for ethnic minorities was developed by the Government of Georgia at the end of 2009. The following activities are planned in the framework of the project: (a) to develop teaching module for Georgian language for higher educational institutions of Georgia;
(b) to develop curricula and syllabuses for the module;
(c) to define the level of academic language proficiency for students;
(d) to develop assessment tools;
(e) to retrain teachers and instructors of higher educational institutions.
